The Surrey Science and Technology Regional Organisation (SATRO) works with industry and commerce to offer schools three complementary programmes each of which, through a diverse range of activities, enables schools to add an essential practical and work related dimension to relevant areasof the curriculum.There is strong emphasis on the reinforcement of student and teacher skills, and on exciting students about the opportunities in the world of work.
The programmes are:
Post 16 Science and Technology:focuses on entrepreneurship and creativity in science, engineering, technology and maths, linking schools with Surrey-based companies.
The Education Business Partnership: provides business related experience for students and teachers in secondary and further education in areas other than science and technology.
SETPOINT Surrey: supports the teaching of science, technology, engineering and maths at primary and secondary levels up to age 16.
Surrey SATRO has been nominated as the SETPOINT for the Surrey LEA area by the national body SETNET which is supported by the DTI.
