Professional Development
Target Group:  Head teachers, teachers and school staff

Purpose:

Through this activity school staff have the opportunity to gain an insight into businesses that would otherwise be unavailable.  The majority of PDP's are provided as group events and are free.  Others are based on one to one activities either in support of school management practices or to provide an opportunity for individual teachers to study a specific topic in depth.

Staff are able to experience industry best practice in order to improve both the depth of knowledge in teaching both academic and vocationally based courses at all key stages and build skills in management and enterprise.

They are also able to benefit from a new accreditation scheme that contributes to teachers post graduate qualifications that will apply to most PDP's offered through Surrey EBP from February 2005.

A calendar of group activities is available but early booking is recommended.  Individual placements can be organised but six months notice and flexibility in timing is necessary.

Case Studies
Over 50 senior teachers on one of two days attended a training event on emotional literacy at Mouchel’s West Byfleet headquarters in Autumn 2004.

Led by Peter Sharp, Educational Consultant to Mouchel, the event focused on interpreting emotional intelligence to support learning and to assist in working relationships with teaching colleagues.
